The Primal Defender Challenge
Be an Asset. Not a Liability.
There is a version of you that exists in your own mind — the one who would handle it, if something went wrong tonight. Most of us have never tested that version against a number.
Six levels. Real military standards. A free global leaderboard. Find out.
Why this exists
I found out the hard way that I had never checked.
Someone tried to get into our RV one night outside Bentonville. I sat at the dinette in the dark with a kitchen knife on the table — the closest thing to a weapon I owned — and did the math on what would happen if the door gave.
I had spent years and a lot of money on gear. What I had never done was answer a much simpler question: if it came down to my own body, could I actually do anything about it? I did not know. I had never measured.
Fitness is the engine that powers every other domain of preparedness. It is also the only one you can measure honestly, today, for free. So that is what this is — a number, and the truth that comes with it.

How it works
Pick your level
Six levels, every standard published in advance. Most people start at Level 1 or 2. Level 3 is the one that matters.
Do the work and record your score
On your own time, in your own gym, park, or driveway. Name a witness if you want one. Registration takes under two minutes.
Find out where you stand
You get a rank, a percentile, and a band — worldwide, in your country, in your state, and in your age group. Then you share it, or you train and come back.
The six levels
Each level is a visible step up from the one before it. Every standard is published before you attempt anything.

Everyone gets a band
Your percentile becomes a name. Six of them, and only one percent of the field ever sees the last one.
Level 3 — the threshold
The level where you stop being a liability and start being an asset.
Nobody has posted Level 3 yet. Somebody has to be first.

What is the Primal Defender Challenge?
It is a free, six-level fitness benchmark derived from real military standards, with a public global leaderboard. Level 1 is the U.S. Air Force minimum; Level 6 is a 90-minute qualifier in a weighted vest. You submit a score, you get a rank and a percentile, and you find out where you actually stand.
Is the Primal Defender Challenge free?
Yes. Registration, score submission, leaderboard placement, and share cards are free and always will be. The optional $100 Verified Athlete pass buys human video review and a verified badge — it never affects whether you can compete or rank.
Do I need to be fit to start the Challenge?
No. Every level has a Scaled version with the same structure and lighter loads, completable with a backpack, a pull-up bar, and open ground. Level 1 Scaled is a run, twenty knee push-ups, and twenty-five sit-ups. Start where you are.
What happens if I fail?
You still get ranked, and you still get a share card. The leaderboard ranks everyone who submitted, not just the people who passed. A failed first attempt is the most useful piece of data most people get all year.
What does the $100 Verified Athlete pass actually buy?
Human review of your submission videos for the season, one free re-submission per rejection, and a verified shield on approved scores. It buys review, not a badge — if the video doesn't meet the standard, you get feedback instead. At least 25% of every pass is used to purchase meal pouches we donate in support of Conquer Hunger by MTN OPS.
You already know whether you've been avoiding this.
One number. Two minutes to sign up. Free forever, including the part where you share it.
